Honestly? I kind of feel the opposite way. I feel like part of the problem with Gear 5 is that it's not Looney Tunes enough!
If it's going to break reality, I kind of want to see it fully shatter reality! I kind of want Luffy to be pulling off crazy stuff left and right. Go full Jojo's Bizarre Adventure with how broken this power can be.
Personally, I feel like the stuff Luffy has been doing so far has felt...kind of tame? The land turning into rubber and eyes popping out is fine...for a start. But, I don't know, I keep waiting for Luffy to do something REALLY carzy with the powers.
Have the guts to go full Tex Avery or Wackyland with it all. Play with the panel borders and the gutters of the page. Turn the entire page into Luffy's body that the villain is trapped inside. Break the fourth wall a little more. Change up art styles to make it feel really otherworldly. Have the plants and animals morph into having Luffy's face. Have the villain's weapons start to turn into rubber in their hands....and then have it be revealed to a transformed Luffy!
Mind, we might be leading up to something like that. Oda probably still wants to be able to escalate things with Luffy's powers. So, maybe Oda's saving the really crazy stuff for later on, just so there's a sense of Luffy still getting more powerful as he gets more used to these new powers. And I feel like there's going to be a good reason that the Gorosei are afraid of Nika. Nika probably can literally break reality and cause some sort of irreversible disaster.
So, I think we're in a weird spot with Gear 5, right now. Right now, the power is overpowered, but not in a visually interesting way. I think as the story goes on, it'd be fun if Oda really let Luffy let loose and gave us some crazy visuals, like something out of a Grant Morrison or R Crumb comic.
