I would be on your side on a “pacing” level that it’s kinda lame that Oda stops the pace of his stories for this

the problem of course is that the flashbacks are where Oda does his best writing. Like his main story with the strawhats tends to suck so much these days and the strawhats are such poorly written characters that it’s a goddamn relief to have well written characters in flashbacks

so it’s a toss up. If Oda’s character writing was consistent then the flashbacks would be terrible for fucking up the pacing of the arcs. But since Oda’s best character writing is in flashbacks, they’ve become a necessary evil

Oda has a fetish for the power he has over One Piece fans. He doesn’t want to finish the story. He enjoys the fame. He wants to add more and more plot to pad the story with. You will see even more flashbacks and side characters. He will take his sweet ass time. Chapters 1400+ here we come.

I really don't mind, I don't read one piece for Luffy any more than I read Naruto for Naruto.

That being said the main Elbaf story has been pretty good so far, so I wouldn't mind getting back to it.

The fans like u are just new comers to the series , new fan typically is more interested in the main cast and don't want anything else, he will see it as annoying.

Im enjoying almost every flashback with the exception of the last parts of Oden's.
We might still have a few more chapters for this one i guess. Looks like we will see Harald's last days, Loki meet Saint Shanks, and maybe 1 panel of Saint Shanks and Mihawk.

Oda is making you edge like a bitch and then drops a 10 chapter flashback in the middle of a battle.

It's either this or he orders the writing of light-novels that no one will ever care to read.
