at some point would have liked them to put some years in

I just wish Oda put more passage of time between arcs in Part 1. Like celebrate 1 year in the Grandline right before Water 7 or something and then have Sabaody happen a year later. So at least it feels like this wasn't so short

Some people are lacking in reading comprehension skills.

Oden said his sword style was the strongest sword style. That doesn't equal he was the strongest swordsman during his time or when he met Roger. It just mean he believes his sword style was the strongest style. It's the reason he wanted the Scabbards to learn it.
