Not really an evil act persay, the Greater Will was commanding some pretty questionable shit/the Golden Order itself was not some all-good order.

I don’t read evil from these quotes. I have seen others suggest Marika was evil as well but I’ve never seen anything that made me agree with those ideas lol.

At best I’d agree that Marika was growing more and more frustrated/rebellious towards the greater will until she finally broke the ring.

Ranni and Gideon are evil, but I would not say Marika is.

Really? I thought Fire Giant and onwards was about the same difficulty on NG+ and NG+2 but I didn't actually fight Malenia.

Pretty much all souls fights, even the bullshit ones, feel a lot easier once you've beaten them once. You sure you just haven't gotten hella gud?

And that's your point on...which foundation? If you played more then one Souls title you maybe should know that's no such thing as good or evil. All fractions have their motivation for their actions. Even Raykhard had his reasons to become one with the world devouring snake.

If you can consider one evil character with only bad intentions in this game you can say it's the Dungeater.

I think Ranni only executed Marikas plan to strike the greater will and weaken his grip on the lands between. For that purpose Marika was ready to sacrifice her Firstborn and herself. The rest lies on the players decision.

Yeah this summon mechanic and some op weapons like the sword of night and flame makes this game the easiest from software for me at least.
I soloed the game with an sword and axe build in my first run*with summons, in ng everything dies like they are made of papper, the normal creeps pose no danger, only some bosses are tough, I finished the ng without summon and I didnt died more than in my first playthrough.
There are to many broken weapons and spells in this game, let alone the summons. Ofc you can rise the difficulty, play with no armor set, and just crossbow, but this can be done in the other games also, trying weak builds etc.
For me this is the easiest from software game when I try to play with broken builds.
