On sbs volume a fan ask Oda about what’s the story of Kidd childhood and how he became a pirate..
Oda said that Kidd and 4 of his main crew are all from south blue, They used to control districts like gangs, probably where Kidd grew up was the same place where celestial dragons rule and you have to pay tributes to live, and they had a friend named Veronica. This Veronica died from one of their enemy gangs, and Kidd’s crew decided to ally with other and they killed the one who killed Veronica. Sometime they decided to become a pirate. And they named their Ships Veronica Punk.
I think this Victoria also wants to become the king of the pirates and she had a deep impact on them, they probably use to spar, compete to each other this is probably what inspired Kidd and his crew to go to the sea and see the world and be free kinda like Dr. Hiluluk to Chopper. Probably Veronica wasnt just killed for a random reason Veronica probably died for them. And her death probably is enough for them to travel the world, risk their lives, and become pirates.
This is probably why Kidd beats up or even kill anyone who laugh when he says he wants to become the king, because they werent just laughing on kidd but also Victoria’s dream and thats pisses him off to the point they beat them up to death.
Veronica was probably kinda like Luffy, this is why Kidd always wants to compete with him, because he remind him of Veronica.
There’s a chance that Kidd, Law and Luffy had the same childhoods, all of them were f up by the celestial dragons in some way. This is the reason that they werent afraid to even fight the celestial dragons.
I think Law and Kidd’s purpose is to help luffy become the king of the pirates..
