I think everyone is portrayed "fine" and how they should be (regarding BB, Shanks, Akainu and their groups). I just think that is safer to assume the WG is being hyped as the "pinnacle" power of the series.
Its the entire reason for the RA existing, and even is the endgoal that Roger as PK couldnt achieve in his era. You put those things together and you can see why it makes more sense for someone like Imu to scaled to endgame.

Hmm, but thats effectively true for Shanks' crew and Akainu's military for the most part.
Now we have Gorosei and God Knights that havent even been explicitly shown yet. I think theres grounds to argue both sides, but if you reaply consider what the true purpose of the end of this series is, its not just becoming PK. Its surpassing Roger and doing what he allegedly couldnt.

But the Straw Hats never get treated anywheres near as bad as the Blackbeard pirates do.

It looks like your PTSD erased DFless Teach scarring Shanks's Haki defense, showing better attack power with barehands than Jinbe, and Teach without Quake DF 1 handed blocking a mountain slash vs SHawk, and creating ZZT effects while attacking Law's submarine.

Rev Army relocated their base after destruction of Baltigo. BBPs came to Baltigo as well as the CP0, there was no point in keeping that island their base anymore when it was discovered by pirates and the WG. And BBPs like the bitches they are took another L, that too, from CP0, they ran away. Fucking crew of losers, born to take Ls. Their strongest guy, Aokiji, took an L from Akainu and left the marines. Imagine running away from Kalifa and Blueno.
Blackbeard and the BBP are not threatening at all. The whole Joy boy reveal + the Law’s and Amazon Lilly fight make them seems average in compatissons to the Strawhat

Tbf Oda will probably make them have good feats against the strawhats but that will not allows them to be memorable imo. Oda is doing a better job with Imu and the gorosei in that department.

I always thought that Blackbeard is very different from the other villains of OP
He is a villain made to be underestimated, to have people look down on him. Undrrdog villain, pre timeskip that's what happened and guess what he broke some of the most dangerous prisoners, is the only person to have obtained a second df = break the rules of the verse and became one of the top 4 pirates
Some interesting scenarios ahead with them being in Egghead while a Marine invasion is taking place with Saturn personally there too. The end of Egghead can take another huge shift

Lolda's biggest problems are two.
Firstly, he wants his readers to do the characters hyping for him. He did this to justify "Narratives > Everything" mindset, which is unendingly stupid to begin with because this means he can justify Woop Slap soloing the verse if his so called "narratives" require it. He kept making the BBPs job by arguing "Oh, well, they will be strong when the SHs face them, anyway" without even thinking, if any Tom, Dick, and Harry can beat the BBP members, the SHs doing it later will not be as impressive as it's supposed to be.
Secondly, his thinking is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too inflexible. This is true with all Yonko crews so far. Instead of making the powers of the Yonkos and their top officials frightening too boot, he kept choosing to stick with his limited creativity.
Big Mom's soul power literally requires people to be afraid of her, thereby nullifying its effectiveness against many, many named characters right off the bat. A limitation like "She has to be able to touch you directly to take your soul" makes more sense because this means she can steal your soul whether or not you are scared.
Kaido's dragon power should have been dark matter instead of generic fire. His YCs DFs are all fucking stupid and irrelevant.
This is also true with Teach. Okay, maybe Gura Gura has limited use, but using Yami Yami simply for "Absorb, pull, and nullify" is in itself stupid. Yami Yami should have allowed Teach to control dark element itself, including shadows like Moria but stronger, like being able to move through the shadows or to hurt you directly by attacking your shadows (imagine if his opponent evades his quake punch only for him to aim another shot at their shadows and kill them by destroying their shadows) or creating a dark world/zone where staying too long in it will cause you to be absorbed by the dark world/zone (and eventually by Teach himself). But all he's doing with it is Kurouzu.
His crew, as you said it, was already fucked by Lolda even before this arc started. Shiryu should have had the Diamond DF, Wolf should have been our first giant Logia (something like Mineral/Crystal DF would have been cool), and Pizzaro should have had a saber-tooth DF. I don't know what kinda alcohol Vasco can do, but it's bound to be stupid.
