Shanks appeared at the shores of Wano around the time Film Red came out. The casting for life action season 2 was just announced. Bartolomeo was also casted. It will take a long time for him to appear again, if the series is not cancelled by then. Why introduce a character in season 2, just to never feature him again until season 10 or something? The answer is that he will play a big role in the manga soon. Akainu will try to publicly execute him, just like Sengoku tried to execute Ace before.

Marineford 2.0 will be much greater than the original one. So it will not just be Barto on the scaffold. I also predict Jozu and Law to be there. We haven't seen Law since the fight with Blackbeard. Maybe his escape went wrong. He wanted to go back to save his crew. He gave himself in for them already in Wano. Blackbeard is not someone to give up easily.
