Though I have to admit that the animation quality of the Gifuu doudou anime is sub-par, the story and the characters & OSTs make up for it!

Ironically a very late response from me too, sorry about that! I got too distracted IRL, far too much happening in both good and bad ways and I was on a short break from here again too.
Oh yeah I can imagine, there are certain characters you can just sense an "aura" from, you can sort of tell what they're gonna be like and how much you're gonna love them, how much they're gonna resonate with you personally etc.

A deep sort of indescribable, relatable bond somehow. I love characters who are goofy and flamboyant but also sincere, serious and thus deeply introspective and emotional, they have a lot of self confidence but not truly/overwhelmingly arrogant/egotistical to the extreme. Sort of peacock type characters but peacocks with a lot of depth, layers to them yet they give an air of serenity/being untroubled and such.

That's keiji in your pfp isn't it btw? I've been meaning to ask lol. I love the sengoku Basara version of him, my favourite character in that along with magoichi, ieyasu and masamune.
