Other than him simply being cooler and a beloved villain, my assumption is based on Lucci being YC1-ish compared to the others being random VAs (that's their portrayal). Laugh all you want, but there's no reason to believe any of them is a decent match for Zoro, so if Zoro is not engaging...

If Zoro is going to fight a VA he might as well just fight Lucci. None of those VAs is likely to be more impressive than Lucci.

True, but not with a high ranking swordsman "2nd of the crew" right next to his opponent. I'm having trouble finding Shiryu exciting (despite loving his design) but he's for sure Zoro's opponent so let's hope Oda makes something good with him.
