I am pretty sure Kaido was awakened i think Oda just didn't wanted to show or explain it for a reason. Kaido was the one who explained Awakening to Luffy and commented on it. i think it is not just knowledge more he has it as well.

the strawhats will have high bounties in average similar to the red hair pirates. so expect Zoro , Sanji and Jinbe (or Yamato) to surpass the commanders of Kaido with a bigger margin than expected and Luffy to have a 5B+ bounty.
