I think it was one of the best non-luffy fights in the manga actually.
My only complaint is at the end if that was just shading and not armament haki ... i won't forgive Oda.
Except Kaido has literally been fighting since chapter 986. If you argue that the scabbards don't matter, then he has been fighting since chapter 1000 almost non stop, tell me how many months that took.
So Yamato knows at least basic Ryou, nice.
Hate how Toei has to ruin every surprise with foreshadowing though like showing Kaido mad at Orochi

Yamato leaves this arc weaker than Zoro and probably stronger than Sanji.
Next arc Sanji is back to being no.3 through whichever power up Oda will give him.
For me, it is by far the best arc post timeskip, albeit a bit too long.
If it ends the way it should, Wano will be one of the very best One Piece arcs, pre or post timeskip, like Enies Lobby and Marineford.
