There is a lot of ingenious stuff about the movie, but also cringe parts like you said. I think it gets better, but not by a lot if you could not stomach that scene.

Finished Last of Us, good adaptation in the end but, maybe it´s subjective, it felt like they were going through a checklist of scenes, dialogue and so forth they had to include, did not really feel entirely natural.

Enel is the thematically more sound character. Lucci vs Luffy might be the best OP fight just based on choreography and the progress within the fight but Lucci himself is pretty empty. I know that that is the point, does not make it any less lackluster overall though.

I think that applies to US/English speaking countries which were ruined for OP due to the shitty anime. In a lot of countries, One Piece was the spiritual successor to Dragonball in terms of being the most popular anime/manga. Anyway, One Piece for all questions. I liked Bleach for one arc...
