I can't lie Oden looks beastly in that last panel. I think we have two chapters left in this flashback, 972 has Oden's death and final words to his retainers after saving them (open the borders of Wano, etc). 973 is raid on Oden's castle and Toki sending Scabbards to the future.

After thinking about it, I am more and more convinced that Oda legit forgot he had a 5 year gap between when Oden was executed and when he returned to Wano. He needed to come up with something convincing to explain the gap, and couldn't come up with a good idea in time so decided to use humor...

So let me get this straight, Oden barges into the castle after hearing all of the atrocities Orochi committed to take his head. He gets stopped by Grandpa and Grandma Kurozumi, and instead of trying to fight their old asses and Kaido as well he.... believes them when they say they need 5 years...
