If he hits Katakuri why not? He'll find it hard to hit Katakuri, but Kidd has demonstrated impressive physical strength from his performance against Kaido. Pre Udon Boundman's hits didn't seem to do much to Kaido, but Kaido had a greater reaction to Kidd's attacks.

I have some opinions on that:

You expect Zoro to leave Luffy defenceless? When Luffy cannot protect himself? 90% of Zoro's action this fight have been protecting Luffy. Hell the only action that wasn't protecting Luffy was the initial Rengoku Oni Giri. If Zoro cares more about protecting Luffy than fighting Kaido, he's not...

I thought it drained him a bit, but we see him execute another attack this chapter with the same black aura (it's only on Enma for now). It seems I was wrong about that.

Kaido will request Mama to not intervene so that he can see for himself if Zoro is truly worthy to bear Oden's mantle.
