Luffy didn't fight Spandam, nor was he responsible for literally freeing Robin (that was Usopp), and Robin wasn't practically a slave to the WG like Nami was to Arlong

Nami is the only one Luffy has personally freed from an oppressor/slaver as the Warrior of Liberation would probably do btw, the only one who's happiness he's promised to keep, and the only one he's given his hat to multiple times for the sake of comfort

I hope this arc is leading to the end of Luffy's issues in G5, him not turning into an old man this chapter is promising

I think Oda is never going to portray Luffy in the same manner as Kaido, Shanks, Whitebeard etc until it's time to fight the big bad, he still wants Luffy to be a goofy guy for the most part (which is fine, just won't suit people depending on their expectations)
