You can just put a rule to fight everyone. Done. But nuzlockes also use level caps as a possible rule. Sometimes it gets really annoying to getting pass some trainers because you're close to the level cap, etc. Giving you more active management of who and when to fight is not a bad thing, IMO...

Good for speedruns and nuzlockes, I guess?
