This happened in the manga. Zoro trapped Killer's scythes and what happened in next chapter is he fainted. This happened in the manga too. Zoro didn't kill Killer.

Killer was nerfed to spare Zoro's life. Even while being nerfed as much as that, he still able to KO Zoro. Now imagine what would happen to poor Zoro if Killer attacked him without being nerfed first.
