The funny notion is that I'm fairly confident Kaido thought about Oden whilst fighting Zoro, even before he would scar him I mean. I mean he compared the Scabbards to Oden claiming they were nothing to him so he should have done that to Zoro all the time

Actually Kaido and Big Mom always took the Grandmaster serious because they were afraid of his AP lol. If you look at it Zoro was the trigger for Kaido to go Hybrid for the first time and he was always serious when matching him unlike with Luffy.
