I still like reading OP, mostly because I've been a fan for so long, and I'm also grateful that this work exists in the first place, but quality wise it just can't compete with the modern shonen works anymore. It's too long and too repetitive, not to mention...
The problem is everything that happened after the explosion.
The second half of WCI is by far (!) the worst stretch in all of OP when it comes to pacing, plot-conveniences and inconsistencies.
That says something.
Why do you think Oda refuses to reveal any of his big "mysteries" like Vegapunk, will of D, void century, Imu, Devil Fruits etc.?
He knows that the things people expect - and therefore hype OP for it - are much greater than the actual reveal of those mysteries.
