Luffy was in danger not the crew 1688402289 he choose to sacrifice himself for Luffy, he didnt try and fight, like i pointed out, if it means just him dying Sanji would do it, but if the crew is in danager Sanji would surrender

Sanji is weak mentally so he probably cry and beg for mercy, honestly the majority of the crew wouldn't want Luffy and Zoro to die, they would surrender knowing when Luffy and Zoro get up they can fight again, only Luffy and Zoro would never surrender and would rather die.
