If Kaido wants to be killed yet it's been stated that One Piece's villains don't die because having their dreams crushed is a worse fate, why should we expect Kaido to fulfill his objective? Unless by the time of his hypothetical death he doesn't want to die anymore, of course.

Everybody grasp the parallels. What some people don't believe is that Oda will let Zoro behead Kaido on screen when he coudn't allow himself to kill the Unluckies or Diamante.

I don't think Kaido will just recover that easily from a whole fight of very strong attacks hurting him directly from the inside, especially since he will more than likely end up unconscious for good.
He could fit a trope in Japanese popular works (the very strong guy whose existence is cursed in some way and seeks a reason to live) whose characters always end up redeemed in a certain degree, so yes, the possibility is there. Not saying he will be a good guy at all because that won't happen...
