Eh, that's not how I read it.
Zoro has landed several attacks on King, they just aren't working. On panel, all of the following landed on King:
Rengoku Oni Giri
Tatsumaki
Shi Shishi Sonson
Off panel, Zoro said that he had hit King with a few slashes, but he just doesn't bleed:
And he also...
If this was true, there wouldn't be a narrative tying Zoro and Oden's mastery of Enma.
Even Kaido saying there shall never again be a monster samurai like Oden is something that further ties them.
In Zoro and Oden's case, I don't think this has any credibility.
There's a Zoro - Oden narrative...
It's a narrative.
The narrative tying Zoro and Oden together is Enma.
Even when Zoro unleashes his Haoshoku, he marvels at how Oden was able to so easily wield Enma even while losing so much haki.
For all his prowess, Oden wasn't able to go the extra mile and make Enma a kokuto. When Zoro is...
He becomes stronger than Oden when he makes Enma black:
Rooftop Zoro before unlocking Haoshoku had a more impressive performance than Luffy before unlocking Haoshoku.
1 hour after unlocking Haoshoku, Luffy already has Emperor class Haoshoku.
Current Zoro isn't yet above Oden, but when he...
Yes it is.
The 9 Scabbards together can't beat King.
King and Jack are in different worlds.
No he can't.
Rooftop Zoro's offence > Hybrid Kaido (let alone Base Kaido), and King is handling that offence without any issue.
Yes.
See Hitetsu's words:
And then Zoro's own epiphany:
Zoro has already taken his first step into Oden's class by meeting Enma's challenge head on. When he exceeds Oden's mastery of Enma, he'll be above him.
Oden was knocked out by an ordinary club strike not even a Thunder Bagua.
Zoro's feats are unquestionably better than Oden's. One might only argue that Oden has displayed > AP.
That's not what I'm saying.
No Kaido is comparing Luffy's ceiling to the greatest pirates he knows. Oden is one of those greatest pirates. He's not directly suggesting that Luffy is Oden, anymore than he's suggesting that Luffy is Xebec.
Enma is Zoro's sword.
Kaido was reminded of Oden by...
No he did not.
Quoting myself from a PM on my thoughts on the issue:
I cannot take Kaido not recognising Zoro as matching Oden as confirmation that Zoro is below Oden. In order to do that, I must believe that Kaido will actually recognise when Zoro surpassed Oden. However, even after Zoro...
Zoro's main opponent of Wanokuni is an Emperor itself not their strongest subordinate, so nah.
Not really. This hypes the Red Hair Pirates as a powerful crew, not as a crew the Strawhats need to surpass.
Also, it does not suggest that Zoro hasn't already surpassed Beckman. Again surpassing...
No that's not what I said. I said that Zoro had accomplished a feat that only Oden had accomplished.
Zoro replicated Oden's exclusive feats:
Mastering Enma
Scarring Kaido
That's portrayal that places Zoro on Oden's level.
What statement did I say that's false? Everything I said is true. As...
Nope. This makes like no sense to me. Zoro doesn't have any connection to or relationship or bearing on or parallel with Benn Beckman. Like Beckman is utterly irrelevant to scaling Zoro.
We are never going to see Zoro surpass Beckman. Beckman has no role in Zoro's life or Zoro's story.
Hell...
Nah he does. He achieved mastery during the fight with Kaido.
I can just as say that Zoro's feat is better because:
He scarred a much stronger Kaido.
He scarred Kaido while heavily injured and with zero stamina or HP left.
He went on to tank a COC Thunder Bagua from Hybrid Kaido while Oden was...
