Yeah I don't recall Oda stating anything of substantial about Zoro's eyescar

I also think he would have likely gone all out earlier unless the Hakai blast messed him enough he didn't have enough energy to channel a new power up but I don't find it as a likely scenario.

Opening that left eye is not necessarily something related to a mastodonic power up I guess. It could even merely be a way for Oda to portray another parallel with Rayleigh and pretend that his eye for some reason was healthy again and it was never permanently damaged that extensively.

I hope that Oda won't portray the Grandmaster scarred for life by a bunch of Baboons or Mihawk himself for repetitiveness, no matter how significant and tough his path was.

I don't think that's probable but not even close to 0 chances wise judging off the notion that it would be implicated that he was scarred by the Baboons or Mihawk (again) differently. The first would look kinda dumb, the other repetitive. It might be that an hijack is in place, sadly I'm not...
