    He never implicated he was necessarily weaker than Whitebeard though. Measuring his distance with Shirohige could have been a two ways end and not necessarily him starting from the bottom.

    He didn't All he likely wanted to test was where he stood in comparison to him, not necessarily below in the scale however

    He likely stood weaker knowing the fact he was still sick but perhaps Oda didn't care about that in that moment. He isn't always legitimately addressing power levels and prefers to portray what are fancy plots according to him regardless from the accuracy.
