I've been getting my nephew into One Piece, and he finally made it past Enies Lobby. He friggin adores Luffy. He loves that Luffy isn't overpowered out of the gate and how nothing seems to get to him. He thinks it's cool that Luffy is essentially living the dream, and doing what he wants...
Luffy always acts based on what he feels atm. His intentions are always pure. And that's what leads others to follow him. He always knows exactly what he has to do.
I’m more or less convinced Luffy will beat Kaido in head to head combat. It’ll be interesting how he deals with Linlin, though, if Kid and Killer can’t hold her off after creating what’s, presumably, a more powerful Zeus.
Loved this little bit from Luffy in the chapter.
The expression and action is all you need to know how angry he was in this moment.
And the best part - Luffy's back sporting the Captain's coat again.

I understand what you mean. "Flat" naturally has a negative connotation. But I'm merely speaking from a narrative perspective. It's some of the things I learned in my short story classes back in High School.
I'm not saying he is flat as a person. His character arc is that of the Flat character.Flat characters aren't bad. Luffy already understands what he wants and who he is. These thoughts and feelings already coincide with the overall themes Oda tries to convey through the story. His job is to make...
Exactly, not every character needs to be a dynamic. Stories come in many different forms. Luffy is a flat character, therefore he comes into the story already possessing the truth to its themes and ideals. The major course is how that character affects their plot, and it's up to the author to...
If we do have a naval battle, it'll probably be brief. The ships being used are manned by fodder Beast Pirates. I think Oda would save a real naval battle for ones that involve named characters. We might see it later down the line, probably right after the explanation of how Luffy and the others...
