General & Others OP Manga Sales Declining

Whether it was just a frenzy for KnY and JJK or they can sustain their level, of course that remains to be seen. OP will grow like DB, i don´t doubt that, because the investment in the story is so great. Well, KnY is already 1.5 mil above OP for now, so OP first has to compete with KnY. Not...

Yep, Kaisen is in the middle of its hype right now, so it will probably dominate in 2022 as well. Maybe not above 30 million, but enough to beat OP. I am not trying to take anything away from OP, despite the partly ridiculous statements around here, what Oda accomplished is still tremendous...

General & Others OP Manga Sales Declining

Just my guess but i think it´s likely that Wano was always planned in some form like this. Momo and Kinemon were introduced pretty early in the New World after all, so their story would always lead to Kaidou. For BM i have the impression that Oda knew we somehow had to visit WCI due to him...

WCI´s entire premise was shoehorned in. Of course the setting, the pace and so forth were good, but if the entire reason for the arc transpiring lacks credibility, you already have a problem.

JJK will definitely since its hype is just starting. KnY probably not since the market should be saturated now, it still crushed OP though, even on individual volume basis. SnK not, a few millions might be still sold since the manga just ended, but won´t be 7 mil, and the anime is not attracting...

General & Others OP Manga Sales Declining

That´s an issue nothing to do with sales, and for me that´s a no, and you won´t convince me. And that specific "twist" did nothing for increasing new volume sales, which is the entire point. It does, since you tried to refute my argument, not anybody else´s. My statement, OP fell back to...

General & Others OP Manga Sales Declining

I don´t think you can see that in sales since they stayed constant the last 3 years or so. Whether Wano substituted new readers for old readers that stopped is possible, but can obviously not be proven.

General & Others OP Manga Sales Declining

2008 was vol 49-51, MF started with 56 which was Dec 2009, so already counted for 2010. And i don´t count Shabondy (2008) to Marineford, at best you can make the argument for Impel Down but not really, due to the intense draw of MF since battles and war and all. 2008...

General & Others OP Manga Sales Declining

Wasn´t that long to be honest, the entire arc was around 50 chapters iirc, and had the interesting setting, new characters, a lengthy flashback with interesting characters, thematically on point, tied into overall plot very well, humor was on point, Strawhats got a lot of attention and the list...

General & Others OP Manga Sales Declining

SnK had 2 volumes released within the timeframe (Nov 2020-Nov 2021). Its sales have more to do with it ending. OP had nearly 15 million in 2009, and sold per volume (new volumes) around what it sells now, 2 million, meaning OP basically declined to pre-Marineford sales.

Seriously, it´s better than anything else other than Zou post-TS, at least for me.

    That´s not what happened :seriously:

General & Others OP Manga Sales Declining

Yes, one volume less. Most of OP volumes are sold immediately when it comes out (2-2.5 mil) and only the remaining 500k over the next few months. So OP had around 3.2 volumes technically. Concentrating on other characters is not a problem if they would provide more than basic and already seen...

General & Others OP Manga Sales Declining

2009-2012/2013 were backdrop sales. You can go back and see that individual volumes still sold around 3 million in the year they came out (and 500k to a million afterwards) but the backdrop sales catapulted OP to the 20 and 30 million range sale. The real drop started with 2015 or 2016 where...

General & Others OP Manga Sales Declining

Several circumstances/explanations coming together but the main two: 1) Yep, the series has been in decline, no matter what some people might say. The last true great arc was Zou if you can call it an arc, everything else post-TS had its highs but many lows. And having that few highs among so...
