To be fair to Stephen, this should also be kept in mind, the translator's scripts get edited by Viz which they can't control:

Those are common English expressions. Part of the issue is that Viz is harder to understand for non native speakers and the other issue is that Stephen isn't really the best at slang English imo.

Not sure if it was his decision or that of his editors, but 'millet dumplings' instead of 'kibi dango' is a no from me. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a Viz editorial decision.
