You miss the essential theme: learning is learning, academic or battle. Have you ever trained in a dojo? Optimal is different than inefficient barbaric methods.
I don’t see how that works as the “best” training method for learning how to use a weapon. I would think sparring at graduated levels withe appropriate stress would be a better way to learn.

I wonder if Kaido kept all other types weapons away from Yamato? Once trained and under attack you go with what you know. That is why Yamato kept with using the club? Otherwise, your logic makes excellent psychological sense.
Maybe because I don't see the seriousness of the need to list items related to a shonen series as canon vs. non-canon is why asked why. For a fictional piece that spans years upon years, I would expect there to be "discrepancies".
I enjoy the perspective of fictional pieces with parallels...
