Nah. Taking Kaido down in a fight was Luffy's job. He is the liberator, he is the sun. Zoro is the moon, the guardian of Wano, his job is a different one.
Haven't heard of "defeating". And if it occured, I doubt it was the mainstream idea. It was only about Zoro replicating Ryuma's feat of cutting him down above the flower capital.
