Akainu and Luffy didn't really interact (in fact did they even talk to each other?)
Akainu and Luffy don't really have any rivalry.
Luffy doesn't compete with Akainu for PK race nor does Luffy think of Akainu "oh I need to pay him back, I must beat him" every arc since Timsekip as he wanted to take down Yonko.
Luffy can be pissed but he never actually witnessed the events on how he got scarred. He was only told so later on.
We usually say Akainu vs Luffy is fated yet their matchup isn't really built up like Teach vs Luffy or Oden vs Kaido, Teach vs Shanks]
In fact, Akainu didn't meant to even scar Luffy.
It was an attack to hurt Jinbei which then yhe leftover magma ended up hurting Luffy too.
Akainu was trying to stop Jinbei then kill Luffy.
So basically Akainu accidently scarred unconscious Luffy unintentionally.
Like why would Luffy fight someone whom he doesn't remember scarring him and wasn't even an attack meant for him first. Plus Luffy also doesn't wanna avenge Ace at all!
There isn't any panel of Luffy wanting revenge of that against Akainu! Since He accepted the fate that Ace sacrificed himself.
It is Sabo who wants to avenge Akainu!
He's the one who also carries Ace's will now and has his fruit.
Sabo is the one going around talking about avenging Ace , trying to fix his mistake for not being there for Luffy and Ace.
You guys clinging unto the "scar aching" argument yet dont realise that Oden scarred Kaido and he witnessed it, it wasn't off-guard nor was the attack meant to stop king then ended up hurting Kaido too
Same with Teach scarring Shanks. (Even Zoro got scarred during battle as he himself asked to be finished from the front by Mihawk)
I can name even Dukes vs Jack where they witnessed losing limbs as they were tortured, Kid lost his arm during battle consciously and wants to pay Shanks back....
Oda always make the victim witness being scarred and it happens during the battle so that it becomes a fated battle /revenge plot in the future.
Sabo vs Akainu is the fated battle!
Sabo avenging Ace and showing that Mera Mera can beat Magu Magu in battle .

- Fated battles are where both parties are conscious when hurt fatally
- Where one party wants revenge or payback for himself or avenge someone
- When Both characters interacted personally (not like luffy at MF where he didn't even talk to Akainu like Ace did) and compete for freedom or control.
