The Wano people don't know that Luffy was the one who defeated Kaido, because Luffy forbid Momo to tell them , so he didn't become the hero, but we all know he will become the hero for the people, and since Aramaki is going to fight Luffy he will mention openly that Luffy was the one who defeated Kaido , and will be surprised, that Luffy didn't wanted the People know that he was the one who defeated Kaido.

Probably. He'll also more than likely be the plot device to allow the pirates to escape that giant WG fleet waiting around Wano. I think we can expect a Fujitora-esque moment here where he'll be impressed by the support Luffy is given by the people of Wano.
