Character Discussion Berserk and One Piece Parallels [MASSIVE BERSERK SPOILERS] {CAUTION}

#62
Nope, they have no parallels. Just cause both carries sword (which GUTS carries only one btw) doesn't mean they have similarity. Guts have too much weight on him. Also,
Griffith betrays Guts in the most horrible way possible, how is he comparable to Luffy as a character..??
Zodd is an amazing character unlike Kaido who is the definition of character inconsistency.

LOL

The only things they have in common is being two badass swordmen. Other than this they are two very different characters who are only apparently similar.
If we analyse them, for some things, they are polar opposites.
Here some examples:

- Zoro fights because he has a clear goal in Life, Guts instead doesn’t even know if he has one and fights anyway, while wondering what makes him keep going.
- Zoro is completely at ease with his beastly nature, but for Guts is a self-destructive impulse that gives him strenght but needs to be constantly kept in Check.

And there are many others...

Basically Guts is a relatable and deeply human character while Zoro is a narrative archetipe.
And they both work perfectly the way they are.

Yeah I am also a big fan of Baki. You are right about WSC and the ogre thing. I cant recall any other similarity rn

Seriously? 25? Let's hear them. Add main characters also if u want :beckmoji:

That Thriller Bak moment is underrated and same goes for Zoro. I should make one thread about this topic everyday:kayneshrug:
Even a side character like Lambo is better than Zoro
More enjoyable lol

25 year old future Lambo was a badass! Of course not as badass as the GOAT
Zoro was a loner yes but he already had his own dream (WSS) and he wasn’t as raw/savage as Guts.

Guts was an animal, betrayed by his « father », only knew war, horrible childhood, and since then only battlefield after battlefield. Guts relationship with other human beings were close to 0.

and even during Band of hawk arc Guts/Griffith relationship were quite different from Luffy/Zoro
You didn't expect a straight up copy like Gildarts-Shanks, lol. We are talking about inspiration. Zoro did have his dream, but he was also a loner. You can't compare savagery between a seinen and shonen.

Also they do share a common theme of cutting prowess. As we have seen Guts managed to crack corundum of Grunbeld or managed to cut Zodd.
