FIRST FIGHT

Asakura Hao
Asakura Hao is the main antagonist and the de facto deuteragonist of Shaman King.

In his original life, the horror of war was always around Hao, so he saw the world as a dark and cruel place. However Ohachiyo taught Hao the positive aspects of life so he was happy until he accidentally absorbed the demon. His power of Reishi grew and grew until he started to constantly read peopleโ€™s minds against his will. Hao grew into a reasonably good-natured man and wanted to help those around him, which allowed the Asakura family to prosper. But his Reishi powers caused Hao to feel all the negative emotions and thoughts of humans, creating an โ€œoniโ€ within his heart. Thus he became obsessed with creating a world of only shaman and becoming Shaman King in order to do so. As of his third life, Hao is calm and always smiling, but with a cruel side hidden beneath it. Only rarely does he express anger and whoever angers him is burned right down to the soul by the Spirit of Fire. Hao enjoys watching the fights in the Shaman King tournament, especially if they involve strong shaman and Yoh. He says that when Yoh has reached his full capabilities, he will make Yoh a part of him to become unstoppable. Hao dislikes associating himself with Yohโ€™s family via family titles, glaring at Yoh when he called Hao โ€œNii-chanโ€ (Big brother) and his face darkened when his nephew, Hana, called him โ€œUncle Haoโ€.

Originally, Hao was born Asaha Douji and his mother was Asanoha Douji. But a group of humans killed her, believing that she was a demon and Hao was left to wander the land alone, thinking he had demon powers and wanting to destroy humanity.

During his first life, he lived under the uncertainty of corrupted and uncaring Heian nobility which drove the country into chaos and poverty. He saw the world as a grim and dark place until he met a small demon named Ohachiyo, who taught him all the positive aspects of life. Ohachiyo, who gave him the nickname Mappa Douji (Demon Boy). Ohachiyo convinced him to not hate humankind and enjoy life, showing him what there was to enjoy in the world. He also taught Hao a power called Reishi, which let him hear other peopleโ€™s thoughts and feelings. Thus Hao lived a peaceful existence, until a guard heard him apparently talking to himself (when he was talking to Ohachiyo). Thus he suspected the boy was a demon and reported this to a well known exorcist called Monk Densen.

However when Densen confronted Hao, the boy recognized him as the man who murdered his mother.
Densen, who was actually a fraud was easily defeated and killed by Hao, who use Ohachiyo to create his first Oversoul. But since Hao went over the limits of his furyoku, he lost control of his powers and accidently consumed Ohachiyo. This event would begin Hao on his path to darkness.

After an accident involving Hao's first Over Soul, Ohachiyo became a permanent part of Hao and cursed him with a dangerous ability of Reishi. In his teen years, having witnessed the corruption and greed in the capital, Hao was aloof to those around him, but as he grew into an adult, he became a relatively peaceful man who sought to help the people around him, and thanks to him the Asakura Family prospered. It was because of this gentle and kind nature that he took in the cat Matamune, whom he considered his only friend.

However, his Reishi abilities became quite strong and eventually went beyond his control. The negative emotions and thoughts of others were constantly overwhelming him and, since he was unable to turn his Reishi off, the deluge of negativity eventually created an "Oni" inside his own heart. The internal confusion and disorder that was created eventually led to his desire of creating the Shaman Kingdom on Earth and drove him to become the Shaman King in order to reach this main goal.

Having felt his shamanic powers for the first time, Hao continued to develop his abilities, growing greatly in power. At first, Hao had a good nature, training to become a demon exorcist. At one point, Hao created an oni out of loneliness, but was able to easily control it. Later, Hao met a stray cat named Matamune, who he considered his only true friend. He even gave the cat some of his spiritual energy in the hope of keeping Matamune with him forever. But Haoโ€™s absorption of Ohachiyo would drive him towards evil, forcing him to constantly hear the negative thoughts and feelings of humans. From what he heard, he felt the humans were a curse that had to be cleansed from the planet and eventually learned of the Shaman King tournament. Hao believed this was the key to destroying the humans, but the Asakura Clan learned of what he was planning and managed to defeat him.

In his third and most current incarnation, Hao is usually calm, cruel, and always smiles. The occasions when he is really angry is very rare and when he is angry with someone, that person is usually killed off and burned to death down to their soul by The Spirit Of Fire. He also likes to watch the Shaman Fights, particularly those that involve strong Shamans, and Asakura Yoh. He is not only interested in that, but he also proclaims that when Yoh reaches his limits, he will become one with him to become the strongest Shaman.

Maeda Keiji
SYNOPSIS

Kabukimono, Maeda Keiji.

He appears in many a series, as he is a real life historical figure. Yet I chose him from this series, because for one he fufills the "Deuteragonist" role, as well as it is my favorite interpretation of him.

Both Naoe Kanetsugu and Maeda Keiji shares one key value, and that is what they call "Gi" in Japanese.
The Character "Gi" combines "Oneself" with "Sheep", where "Sheep" is the same as "Beauty" - Therefore "Gi" means "To make yourself beautiful". I repeat; "Gi" truly means "For one to live beautifully".

Keiji and Kanetsugu lives their lives the way they want to live it, they are brother in arms and truly show us how to live beautifully. Maeda Keiji is also known as the Kabukimono, which practically means the eccentric. Both Keiji and Kanetsugu are considered eccentrics, but Keiji is for certain the one who is most known for being The Eccentric, he bows to no man, he is his own person.

A man filled with respect for those who lives in accordance to their own values and those who respects the people around them. He is your best friend, your brother who will not waver for a moment were someone to shame your name.

Truly a man of his own and wherever he goes, the winds of righteousness blows

FAVORITE MOMENT

The Emperor, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's orders are absolute in this day and age, if he says you should do something, then there is NO option to deny his orders. Despite being more than aware of this, Toyotomi orders Keiji to "show him his eccentricity".

However Keiji's eccentricity is neither an exhibition nor an act. Toyotomi thought for certain he would deny his request and give him a reason to kill him.
Though he at first was offended by Kanetsugu who knew full well that Keiji would never accept this, had extended the invitation to him.
However Kanetsugu viewed this in another way, because while beheading Keiji would be the easy way out, he chose to show Keiji the invitation and invite him to the "battlefield" against Hideyoshi himself.

This was his answer:

SECOND FIGHT

Prince Zuko from Avatar
Prince Zuko, son of Fire Lord Ozai and heir to the throne of the Fire Nation, is the deuteragonist of Avatar: The last Airbender TV series.
Introduced at first as an antagonist, hunting down the main character, Aang, Zuko goes through one of the, if not the BEST redemption arc in television.

At the age of 11, Zuko was challenged to an Agni Kai by his father, for disrespecting him in a war meeting. An event that would result on a permanent scar on his face, and also on his banishment from the Fire Nation, until he could capture the Avatar and restore his honor. Mind you that the Avatar, at this time, was missing for over 100 years, so, in a sense, he was sentenced to an impossible task.
Zuko is accompanied by his uncle, Iroh, also formerly known as Dragon of the West. Iroh was a Fire Nation General and older brother to Ozai. He lost his son during his siege of the Earth Kingdom city of Ba Sing Se. Iroh acts not only as a mentor, but also as father figure to Zuko, and tries to show him that his "honor" or "destiny" is not necessarily tied to capturing the Avatar. Those are things he must forge on his own.
In the middle of the story, Zuko and Iroh are branded as traitors and Ozai sends his daughter, Zuko's younger sister, Azula to capture them. They hide themselves as Earth Kingdom refugees and begin no create a new life for themselves, only to be dragged by the events of the story once more. Manipulated into betraying his uncle and aiding Azula with killing the Avatar and taking over Ba Sing Se, Zuko then returns to the Fire Nation as a "hero", but, by that time, he's already struggling with his notions of "right and wrong". He has everything he wanted and yet nothing is what he expected.
After learning the secrets of his lineage, Zuko decides to rebel against his father and aid Aang in taking down the Fire Lord and ending the 100 years war.
A full journey of starting as a "villain", then slowly growing into a "hero". Facing the consequences of his actions, understanding his place in the world and helping redeeming his Nation from the years of terror it brought upon the world. Prince Zuko is a captivating character with an amazing development, his arc is well written, and the pay off is sublime.
And if you don't like him, well...

Obi Wan Kenobi
Obi Wan is well known in the Star Wars universe. He was always a very important character, but was not the deuteragonist of the first movies (4,5,6).

But he became the leading partner of the main character, Anakin, and his past, motivations, failures, love etc were explored deeply. Obi Wan with the Prequel 1,2,3 and the multiple seasons of The Clone Wars became the real deuteragonist of the franchise and even stole it sometimes. Obi was sometimes doing his own things, having his own fights, and his own episodes.

Now lets explain a bit Obi Wan as a character :

We met Obi-Wan in the phantom menace as a Padawan, a young apprentice, under master Qui Gon Jin.

Obi was brash and young but this movie was the real beginning of his story : he met the young Anakin, lost his master thanks to Darth maul mighty double blade, and in the end was tasked to train the young Skywalker.

Obi Wan grew to be a really skilled Jedi, power wise, the guy was still learning but was strong. And he was one of the most calm, diplomatic, and efficient Jedi in the whole Order.

Obi Wan is often the smart one, he doesn't act without thinking first, can have good battle plans, and his wits often helped him to leave battle with the win. Obi Wan never was pure power and sheer might, but craft and skill.

Obi Wan has also a great talent the guy likes to troll and taunt, he is often the one trashtalking people and he kept the spirit even in the worst situations :

Obi is a great deuteragonist because he also has his side quest and his sides story. Everything is not linked to Anakin. He had a lot of screen time.

Obi Wan defeated Maul in the first episode, was tasked to check on Kamino and fought jango fett, beat Grievous and even in the end was the one beating Anakin.

Other exemple : Obi Wan had an episode where he faked his death to infiltrate a crime syndicate and took the identity of a bounty hunter :

Obi had lots of solo adventures.

Obi Wan can be explained with 3 great relationships :

Obi Wan and Anakin, Obi Wan and Satine, and Obi Wan and Darth Maul.

Obi and Anakin :

Obi Wan and Anakin relationship is interesting : he didn't want Anakin at first but he promised a death bed Qui Gon to raise and train him. But Obi Wan wasn't really old at that time and barely a Jedi knight. Quickly he took Anakin under his wing and they became close. Anakin boldness and talent coupled with Obi Wan brain made a great team. Obi wasn't the perfect little jedi who was just followed the code blindly with a huge stick into his ass, he was loose enough to adapt and understand others. But he was still deeply attached to the Jedi ways and the force.

Obi Wan soon enough became Anakin big brother and mentor before being his master. They knew like 1000 tough to extreme situations and often managed to leave in one piece doing things their own way.

Anakin ofetn proved to be a difficult pupil and Obi still had to order him and put him straight from time to time.

Finding the real balance between the friend, the mentor, the master, was difficult for a young knight and then a young master especially when tasked training the chosen one but Obi Wan did the best of his capacity.

And obviously the end was pure greek tragedy. Obi Wan vs Anakin was both sad and spectacular.

But Obi Wan even after everything and the end of the republic Obi Wan still had faith in the force and didn't lose all hope. He took care of Luke, Anakin son.

Obi Wan and Satine :

The Jedi order forbid all attachment and love. Yet Obi Wa was not made of stone and loved someone even tough he resisted till the end. But Obi respected the code and never confessed to Satine knowing thatif he said the words he would have to leave to order.

Satine and Obi Wan fought and argued all the time like an old couple, but it was only sheer sexual attraction and feelings.

Satine was the new ruler of Mandalore and Obi Wan went there to protect her and save her.

This relationship proved that Obi Wan wasn't like the other Jedi, he was a lot more human, prone to real feelings, and it showed the difficulty he had between his duty and his heart.

Obi Wan and Darth Maul :

Darth Maul is maybe Obi Wan main enemy. Yeah Anakin/Vader became his bane but Maul really impacted all his life, from the beginning to the end.

Maul took Obi Wan master Qui Gon. Maul took Obi Wan loved one Satine. Maul tracked him everywhere during the whole clone wars and they had an ultimate fight when both were old.

Obi Wan hated Maul at first for killing Qui Gon but over the years he learnt how and why Maul became like that and he understood him. Obi Wan never again yield to rage or hate against Maul (Maul main theme). Even when Maul killed Satine Obi Wan was distressed but didn't turned dark.

After decades of fighting Obi killed Maul but not for somr great revenge but only to stop and free Maul from his hate and miserable life. In the end Maul died in Obi arms.

THIRD FIGHT

L from DN
L is a world-renowned detective who takes on the challenge of catching the mass murderer known as Kira. In his investigation, L becomes suspicious of Light Yagami and makes it his goal to prove that Light is Kira.
L, who also uses the aliases Hideki Ryuga, Ryuzaki, Eraldo Coil and Deneuve, the latter two for which he has developed reputations as the secondโ€”and thirdโ€”best detectives in the world, is quite secretive and only communicates with the world through his assistant Watari. He never shows his face to the world, instead of representing himself with a capital L in Cloister Black font. After meeting the Kira investigation team, he requests that the task force refers to him as Ryuzaki for discretion. The Kira investigation team never learns his true name.

L's disheveled and languid appearance masks his great powers of deduction and insight. He tends to second-guess everything he is presented with and is extremely meticulous and analytical. He has several quirks such as preferring to crouch rather than sit, eating only sweet foods like desserts and fruits, and holding items very delicately. He stayed in England for five years, and during that time he was the champion in tennis for the England Junior Cup.

L suggests that even though he eats only sweet foods, he remains underweight because the brain uses the most calories of any organ in the body. He also says that if he sits normally, his reasoning ability would drop 40%.

L is very intelligent, though his disheveled and languid appearance masks his great powers of deduction and many question his abilities upon viewing him. L tends to second-guess everything he is presented with, and is extremely meticulous and analytical. He is good at deceiving his opponents, and is willing to take drastic measures to solve a case. Some of his tactics are quite bold, such as having death row inmate Lind L. Tailor pose as himself on live TV in order to draw out Kira, while others seem bizarre to those involved, such as handcuffing himself to suspected-Kira, Light Yagami. He is also shown to have a dry sense of humor, and he isn't above making sarcastic remarks to people. Although he tends to be polite, to some (such as Task Force member Shuichi Aizawa), L can seem condescending at times.

Using subterfuge, misinformation, disinformation, and an analytical knowledge of human nature to help lure a suspected murderer into a false sense of security and possibly make him carelessly over-confident, L sometimes gets what he wants through abnormal or possibly criminal channels. Whenever L gives percentages to indicate how much he suspects a person of committing a crime, such as "five percent," he may in fact be over ninety percent convinced of their culpability. Although L tells Light that he is among the least likely suspects with one of the lowest percentages of probability, in reality L is "pretty certain" that Light is Kira. As series writer Tsugumi Ohba said laughing, making light of L's tactics: "The truth is, he's a liar."

From his debut, L establishes himself as Light's definitive opponent. That is, he shows himself to be the sole character in the story who is capable of not only disproving Kira's godhood, but is also very real threat to Light's survival. While L lives, Light cannot be the God he seeks to be.

To repeat, L is the unmovable object to Light Yagamiโ€™s unstoppable force, but that in itself doesnโ€™t make him on equal grounds with Kira in terms of the narrative. Whilst his role and legacy does achieve this, and L himself is Light's single main rival and equal, making the assumption that in the entirety of the Death Note series Ryuzaki himself is on par with Kira is a mistake. The cat and mouse dynamic between L and his legacy in relation to Light Yagami is what many believe to be the greatest part of the Manga, the former especially, but that particular section only spans half the plot. Itโ€™s important to note that whilst L and his personal hunt for Kira may be what makes people remember Death Note more than anything, making the claim that Ryuzaki was as much an antagonist as Light was a protagonist would only be true if the story had ended following the conclusion of that arc (also known as Episode 25 and Chapter 58). However, it didn't, and the story continued with new threats with new faces, and although they all link back to the same source in a thematically pleasing sense, Ryuzakiโ€™s role wasnโ€™t to be the equal character to Kira.

In my opinion, it was the role of L to parallel and personify different ideologies along with Light, acting as the other half of the same coin, as well as to demonstrate the evolution of Lightโ€™s god-complex; he provides an alternate to Kiraโ€™s justice. This can be seen as his more thematic duty, and duty from a story-telling perspective, but of course his character is loved for very different reasons.

Seras Victoria from Hellsing
Seras Victoria is one of the main protagonists of Hellsing. Seras was turned into a vampire by Alucard to save her from a would-be fatal gunshot wound in the chest that he also caused to kill the vampire priest who held her hostage.

Seras is a strong-willed woman and apparently had always been since childhood which is confirmed through her flashbacks. Seras is often considered a tomboy; a very brave, strong, and heroic young woman who while exhibiting a wild temperament, is not afraid to question the orders of her master if they cross with her personal beliefs. Her devotion to morals and integrity is rather unusual, considering her horrid past. However, she is a loyal and trustworthy soldier who will diligently follow the orders of her commander, provided said commander has proven his or her worth. Her level of maturity in comparison to the other characters is somewhat questionable; she seems to be the child the others could not be, yet possessing a sort of worldly maturity and superficial intelligence that most other characters lack, as well as a sort of 'nurture winning against nature' mentality, as opposed to most other characters. She's the "light that stands out from the darkness" (quoting Kouta Hirano from an interview).

I've got to watch Avatar. This is the second or so character that's been featured here and they sound amazing. Obi Wan edged it out for me, but in large part due to the fact that I actually have experience watching him, and SW is a favourite of mine.

To be fair, Zuko and Azula are like the two crown gems of the Avatar franchise. Don't expect anybody else to be as good as those two. Lol.

WATCH IT!!!
BY GOD, WATCH IT!!!!!!!!!!

Who picked Zuko? I just enjoyed reading this synopsis and watching the videos.

The older I get the more I realize what a truly amazing character Zuko is.
Didn't like him in the first episodes but over the course if Season 1 he really grew on me. Season 2&3gave him such incredible character development, he is just a really well written character altogether.:finally:I loved all his interactions in the added scenes.
Damn why did I not think of submitting him for this tournament?!

Yeah I've read your rant in that thread of yours. Truly astonishing how tastes can differ. Avatar is my all time favourite animated series. I guess you're just looking for a different kind of story. Don't forget that the target audience are 6+ year olds.
