Nah there is way worse stuff. For example the Merry stuff at the end of Enies Lobby
Could you imagine if that happened in this arc. The Sunny becoming sentient and saving the crew. This place would be chaos and people would want to crucify Oda.
Lmao, exactly. Selective memories to be generous. Please, tell me pre timeskip was flawlessly written lol.
Poor comprehension to be blunt. Like why the fuck are people bringing Momo up? He didn't have any interaction with Linlin, didn't bring her to Okobore town and feed her, so she has nothing to object to with his death. What's more, Kaido was his executioner. Would she even put Tama before her partner in the quest for One Piece? Would Kaido punish her for taking her anger out on one of his good soldiers? No. They're not supposed to be bright characters, so I don't know what to say if the way they're written goes over your head.

If you actually paid attention to her character, and read through her backstory, then you would see that it is. Doesn't matter how much of a fanboy of a character you are if you're only reading what's on the surface. I don't need to fanboy over Big Mom to grasp the concept of her character, which you clearly haven't, despite being one.
Who is Momonosuke to her? Why should she care about someone who holds no relevance to her?
It's called "Mother" mode. Tama helped Big Mom when she had amnesia, and thus she developed a bond with her, so when Big Mom sees Tama, her motherly instincts take over.
Zeus straight up says this is something that sometimes happens.
So obviously when it does emerge it has to make sense. Why would Mother mode come out with someone Big Mom has no connection to? That wouldn't make any sense.
Exactly “sometimes happens “. When the plot wants it to activate it will activate...this is literally oda telling you to shut up and accept his lazy writing; he is like yeah readers y’all know it’s out of character but let pretend it’s a weird “mode” that “sometimes “ is activated, just act like clowns my lovely money making readers.
The new homie Hera was a good twist, but this mother mode not only canceled out the modest hype, it overturned it in the diametrically different direction.

Went back and reread BM’s flashback. Also watched the filler episode people say gives more context.
It’s still pretty bad. Even if it was heavily foreshadowed (and I would say it isn’t, at least not well) that wouldn’t make it good since the execution felt random and solely for the sake of progressing the plot.
It’s like saying Arya killing the night king was foreshadowed and made sense character wise. Both are technically true, but that on its own doesn’t mean it was done well at all.

they don’t understand big mom character and then come talk about her when many of them call her big meme and hate her and say that they skip panel when she is shown.
Yes big mom character is complex but it’s not rocket science lmao. They just mistake the kind 5 year old linlin with big mom the heartless and selfish villain.

Only it was first introduced in sky island with Ussop, then in woter seven Franky actually revealed what it was, and only then Oda used it in Enies Lobby. That is a perfectly executed sequence of introduction, reveal and usage; you can't introduce something out of nowhere, everything has to go through three steps before being used in the story.
I don't teach this for free but you guys pissed me off so much that I'm willing to give you few classes. In ordered to use something in a story you first have to:
Establish it as an exciting thing early on in the story.
Then you have to explain it somewhere in between, tell the audience how it works or make some hints for the future.
Then finally you can reveal it when the appropriate time comes.
Here's my advice for you kid: before defending Oda please learn few things about literature, otherwise you make a fool out of yourself.

A ship coming alive and saved everyone sounds ridiculous on paper but Oda pulled it off. The execution was amazing
Plus there were hints to it in Skypiea so it wasn’t a last minute asspull.
Meanwhile in WCI, we saw Big Mom try to kill her family, calling her own kid, Pudding, ugly in the flashback and now it’s suddenly revealed that she has a Mama mode because it helps the plot
It makes sense because it was introduced prior to Enies Lobby. It's not the thing itself that matters but how it was executed, you can't reveal it out of nowhere, it has to be first established, explained and only then revealed. Do you understand it now?

this is totally insignificant compared to Arya and night King
my problem is people assume Oda won't use this mother mode in the future to further develope BM character
does it make sense BM have it? yes
is the reason for it's existence shallow and dumb? We don't know that yet
also even tho BM helped Ussop, idk it's that big of deal in the grand scheme of things, Page one is a minor antagonist who will probably return relatively soon
I've said it many times before but people usually brush it over cuz they don't like the truth. Post-timskip is shit, an absolute garbage of a writing, especially Wano and WCI. Oda's writing in Wano is worse than Chinese monhoua; yes, it's that much worse. Just go and read some Chinese monhoua and you'll understand what I'm talking about.
A beautiful, sentimental send off for a longtime character who meant a great deal to the Straw Hats and the fandom...compared to a poorly written villain with the dumbest weak point of any combatant here or beyond...nah, this ain’t it, man. I see what you’re saying, but Merry coming to life isn’t that bizarre considering all we’ve seen in this series; hell, the woman we’re discussing in this very thread can enliven inanimate objects at will. The difference here is that a previously unmentioned character flaw could theoretically turn the tide of the entire war, whereas Merry didn’t start kicking Rob Lucci’s ass in Luffy’s place, it just made it to the right place at the right time and gave everyone a landing spot.
Also, the Merry stuff was introduced in Sky Island, long before Enies Lobby. Love it or hate it, it did not come out of nowhere. This "Mother Mode" shit literally just popped up in the latest chapter with no build up.
Besides, just because something is consistent does not mean that it is not a fundamentally terrible idea.
Imagine if Magellan cornered all the prisoners with Venom Demon during Impel Down Arc. Our protagonist and his allies are sweating buckets and all hope seems lost as the terrifying Warden has them all cornered. Magellan slowly advances, each step he takes forward brings our beloved characters closer to their doom when all of a sudden......
Magellan lets loose a rip roaring feat of sheer flatulence that stupifies the reader. Ha! I bet you did not expect that to happen, did you dear consumer?
In the face of an oncoming diarrhea attack of epic proportions, Magellan, shame etched across his sweat drenched face at his bowel's betrayel, retreats to the nearest toilet to relieve himself of his rectal burden thus allowing our heroes to escape from an early grave.
Now, is the above scenario consistent with Magellan's character?
Indeed it is. It was even introduced earlier in the arc and was singled out as an odd habit of Magellan's.
Does that make it a good scenario?
Feck no. It is cheap, it utterly kills any and all tension and it completely humilates the arc's main antagonist.
So much like this "Mother Mode" madness, just because a fundamentally stupid scenario is arguably consistent with the story and was even introduced earlier, that does not make the stupid scenario any less stupid.
