Powers & Abilities Black Blades are overrated

I think complaints about Yonko are pretty overblown. Between Luffy's engagement and the assassination attempt in general to now, it's been about 16 volumes. For all the engagement Big Mom has had in that time, it's been 16 volumes since she bled and the first time was only due to a special trick versus actual combat. She's leveled formidable Zoans quickly and struck down 4/5 Supernova with one attack. Even the grandmaster could be just about destroyed in one shot when the two of them joined hands.

But that's all separate from Mihawk. Hands down I just don't think Oda made it seem like Vista was entertainment, but a serious competitor. I don't think there's anything wrong with that except for Vista is worth little to nothing aside from that scene.
Big Mom was never attacked by Wano Zoro or Luffy. I don't think that's a coincidence at all.

I don't think he made Vista out to be a serious competitor. Most of the battle Mihawk wasn't even looking at Vista or focus on him. Mihawk just wanted to see his potential to see if he could challenge him in the future. Remember, we told are he's waiting for a swordsman stronger than Shanks.

Mihawk's rep isnt enough ofc if u r clowning enough ( not to u , to people who do ) to deny every strong swordmen oda introduce and put all of them to different agenda cause of character love or zoro hate.. For me its enough and only shiryu is acceptable contender from underlings to chase that dream and be exceptional as zoro .. U can say oda may write non crew related stuffs but that man is lazy to do so..
Mihawk is the strongest swordsman, above Shanks and has COC. Let's make that clear.

Zoro's journey to becoming the WSS is built on the bodies of fodder and people who have nothing to do with the title. Mihawk said he'll be waiting for Zoro at the very top, implying that there are other swordsmen that Zoro will have to go through. We were also told that every swordsman dreams of fighting the WSS.

So far? We've seen no one else going after the title or has tried in the past. Zoro's best duel has been Ryuma and it's an exception, with the norm being people like Cabaji, Braham, Hyouzou, Gyukimaru etc.

It's not even unique to Zoro. Nami, Sanji, Chopper etc. have dreams that weren't done well either.

Well for zoro , oda needs to write side story if he doesnt wanna weigh down top tier title under crew dynamics..

So it lil bit seperates itself from other's dream bec of it being totally individual pl related... Zoro for now just helping to luffy at pk route..

It would be bad writing if zoro meets shanks and not duel with him bec of he is also on the way of luffy.. For now oda does well with not shitting on title..

Oda at this point will probably not have his male main characters hurt a female again. Do I think, solo, Luffy or Zoro can make her bleed? Yeah sure. But she is insanely versatile and her new power up just changed the game, so I cannot say we're given the impression that they're ready to beat her even if Luffy can beat her right hand (comfortably with his new CoC) and Zoro will solo King.

but that's still separate from Mihawk and black blades. The most important thing to note about his status is that unlike all of the other powerful characters, he doesn't use the strength of numbers. He is one man, natty, and fights as such. Katakuri is pretty noble but even he doesn't compare because he's a subordinate of Big Mom. So it's entirely possible for Mihawk to be as strong as an emperor but less dangerous... although we have no idea how strong he is. All we have is Vista saying that a break would benefit both of them and Mihawk not disagreeing. I feel like objectively, for another character, this would settle the whole debate.

I always find it funny that people use this line to say Roger is stronger than Mihawk but yet in that very chapter Mihawk calls his power the ultimate power.

Mihawk's statement should be clear, he doesn't think there is anyone stronger than him and that no one can be stronger than him, he even arrogantly tells Zoro that it doesn't matter how long Zoro takes no one will be able to defeat him since his power is the strongest.

This exchanges should tell you that Mihawk doesn't think a PK is stronger than him
I don’t know what fan translations you are reading

Who said every crew needs one? I just said multiple times that Oda could have done something at least once over the past 1000 chapters.

Remember Ryuma's lore drop? That's he's single handedly responsible for Wano's rep? And that he's held in higher regard than Oden? That's is a little direct portrayal that Mihawk should have gotten. Instead, we get that in a VC. It's mostly indrect portrayal for Mihawk and the title.
I don’t think you understand Oda’s writing style in the least bit. Oda’s not going to just chuck Mihawk’s name into the narrative for no storytelling value whatsoever, rather he’s going to hype the WSS title through swordsmen like Oden and Ryuma. You seem to be under this misconception that WSS is a goal that people should be shouting from the rooftop, but that ain’t it. If you take up swordsmanship, you are automatically competing for WSS, just as how all men automatically fall under Whitebeard’s title and don’t need to directly compete with him for it. Mihawk will get his hype when it’s time, all of this started with you making yourself look stupid when you said that Oda doesn’t give swordsmanship any relevancy. Even dumber timing considering that Oda dedicated the entirety of last chapter to highlighting the kingly ambitions needed to be WSS and explaining the lore behind cursed swords.

At least comprehend what you say. You lumped me together with the guys who complained about King and Zoro's "magic Emma sword." What do they go to do with me?

For the past 1000 chapters, the WSS never got the attention and relevance it deserves. You follow? How does all this incoherent "you want Oda to awkwardly shove it in now!!!???" change that? Lol How do you know how Oda would do it hundred of chapters ago?

Oda could have done the WSS world building better. Please get some sun
Only very recently, huge chunks of the fandom took massive Ls because they couldn’t be patient and were too retarded to understand context clues and Oda’s setup. Big Mom hyping King’s race and King dealing with her crew single handedly? Fuck it, King must be useless since Oda left him be for a few chapters that weren’t even his fight. You seem to be falling into that exact same mindset, except there’s really no excuse to be doing that now. There’s a time and place to be info dumping about the WSS title, Mihawk and the sword god legacy. This ain’t it. The Yonko saga which has dominated the entirety of post TS also ain’t it. Maybe try reading about storytelling elements next time.

If you think WSS is Mihawk's Goal, why Mihawk is a pirate? He shouldn't have been a pirate if his goal was just WSS. You can be WSS without being a pirate.

If some of you remember, there are some mihawk and Lolo fans were saying that mihawk is not a pirate, but in the end we've seen Larines are chasing mihawk right after mihawk lost his Shichibukai title, because as we were right that mihawk is a pirate before and after,

We also see mihawk in Roger's execution and it's possible just like Doflamingo, moria and Crocodile, mihawk too was impressed with Roger, and become a pirate because of that, that's the only clue about mihawk being a pirate, because of Roger.

And same mihawk admitted that surpassing his level is still not enough to be on Roger's level,

Mihawk : ''What is your goal?''
Luffy : ''To be King of Pirates !''
Mihawk : ''Even more perilous than trying to surpass me.''

--- Chapter 0052

mihawk basically said; Roger's level > surpassing mihawk's level > mihawk's level.

We never see pirates having WSS goal. Lolo is only a pirate because Luffy forced him to be one. Lolo is a special case because of Luffy, we don't know why mihawk is a pirate yet, we can only guess why he become one, and it's obvious mihawk don't have any captain so he was definitely not forced to be a pirate like Lolo was. You don't need to be a pirate to be a swordsman.
Mihawk is a pirate, and in the pirate hierarchy he is definitely weaker than ''Great'' Pirates, since Mihawk is a pirate.

This is just like lets say Vice-Admiral Momonga become the WSS but not an Admiral at the same time due to not seeing worthy for that position by his superiors, then saying that Momonga > Fujitora based on WSS title.

If mihawk is superior to Shanks, first of all, mihawk would definitely be listed as a ''great'' pirate, because mihawk is foremost a pirate, and mihawk would've more accomplishments as a pirate rather than being WSS, he is a pirate after all, mihawk's accomplishment as a pirate is being a Shichibukai. That's it.

And another thing is, mihawk never said his goal is WSS, its just people calls him, and in Lolo novel, people said Vista or Shanks, and even Dressrosa Lolo might be WSS over mihawk.

It's not even a certain title, what certain is mihawk is a pirate, and he is below Great Pirates such as Yonko. If Kaido or Shanks loses their crew, they would be still listed as 'Great Pirates' , not just some Shichibukai Pirate.

Pirate mihawk not having a crew is not an excuse because he chooses not to have a crew and be a pirate at the same time.

Shanks as a Great pirate is superior to mihawk as a pirate.

People who consider mihawk as Shanks's superior due to some sword title, don't consider the fact that they are both pirates, and Shanks is mihawk's superior as a pirate.

We literally learned last chapter that becoming the WSS requires the will of a conquer, which Zoro has.
I think you should consider;
A- mihawk is a pirate, both are, and he is below Shanks since Shanks is a great pirate, mihawk is not a great pirate.
B- mihawk said Lolo's cause to help Luffy to be PK is greater than the WSS ambition, so this doesn't necessarily mean their goals and their ambitions are equal, mihawk admits Lolo is aiming for something greater than WSS.

Lots of text Erkek-chan but nothing useful. Being a pirate/not being a pirate is irrelevant. :goyea:
Lolo will be the strongest character of One Piece ever and Mihawk's job is to give the strongest character ever the hardest fight ever.

BS.

WSS title is not limited to pirates. That's why it's called the World's Strongest Swordsman. Not the World's Strongest Pirate Swordsman (WSPS).
