At first when I speedread the title I was like, “holy shit he actually put Sauron in the Harry Potter world, gg” but then I read the title correctly lol.
Aight then,
Saruman is dropped into England roughly during the Triwizarding Tournament. He has a rough understanding of the world, his staff and no support. Dumbledore knows of Saruman but not in greater detail.
Saruman needs to conquer Britain / defeat the boy who lived before he graduates Hogwarts.
First thing is first, are we just assuming Saruman would remain evil even without the influence of Sauron? Because he only ever turned evil because he realized the futility of opposing Sauron, not sure he’d remain that way without Sauron in the picture. But I’ll just assume he’s evil anyway lol.
The thing about the Harry Potter world is that the story is written so that the people who should be responsible for stopping someone like Saruman are painfully incompetent, and thus their chances at stopping him are pretty minuscule. Even if Dumbledore realizes the threat Saruman represents, best case scenario is that Dumbledore is trying to oppose Saruman by himself, worst case is that the Ministry might try to actively sabotage Dumbledore.
If we assume that both Dumbledore and Saruman are allowed to fight the intellectual battle for a year and then that battle culminates at the ministry like it did in OotP, then Saruman really should have the benefit of the doubt for being a literal demigod.
Hell, I don’t even think he’d necessarily need to gather Deatheaters or anything like that, he could probably just walk in to the Ministry and he like “this is mine now”, and what is anyone going to be able to do to stop them? Saruman is far more overwhelmingly powerful than anyone in Harry Potter and there’s no need for him to really act from the shadows like Voldemort did. If Dumbledore and Saruman ever tried to fight face to face, Saruman would crush him without mercy.
Saruman conquers the Wizarding World without too much trouble tbh.
Voldemort appears in Orthanc with his most loyal Deatheaters. He is in contact with Sauron thanks to the palantir and has as much support as Saruman did. His objective is to rule the world of man and find the One Ring before either Sauron or the fellowship receive/destroy it.
The White Council knows of Voldemort as a great sorcerer and Gandalf will not unleash his full power on him as per his own limitations.
He would make a great Ringwraith for Sauron. End comment.
Let’s assume Sauron won’t mind break Voldemort for whatever reason—he’s merciful and doesn’t see Voldemort as a threat. So Voldemort is free to pursue his own selfish ambitions. Does that change anything?
Oh.
Well in that case, no, Voldemort stands no chance at conquering Middle Earth. At least not through force. He and his Deatheaters would not have an answer to Gandalf and the Wizards, Elrond, Galadriel, etc...some of the more powerful LotR characters.
But what if Voldemort tried to conquer ME through sneakier means? Corruption and such?
In that case, I’d say also no as I don’t see him succeeding where Sauron initially failed. I don’t even know how he’d go about conquering everything through sneakier means lol.
So Voldy doesn’t clear.
