I told @ZenZu like 8-10 years before that Oda doesnt really care about powerscaling. Convince this simpleton first
Oda cares about it, that's why he always adds excuses for characters to protect them. Or hides certain things, leaves them ambiguous, he does not want characters to straight up look weaker than they should. If he's favouring plot, he will always build an excuse for a performance (did it during Reverie, did it on egghead for Kizaru etc.)

Many people here act like Oda is just as obsessed with powerscaling as they are, but there are several examples of Oda egregiously ignoring powerscaling. Here’s two very glaring examples

1. The WBPs clashing evenly with the Roger Pirates. It’s pretty obvious that Oda didn’t think this through at all. He clearly thought that “Since Primebeard = Roger, the WBPs have to match the Roger Pirates in strength”, without thinking about the specifics. Maybe Oden could cancel out Rayleigh in strength, but what about the rest of the crews? Marco, Jozu, and Vista were still young boys who obviously weren’t anywhere near their primes. The Roger Pirates should logically be stronger than the current SHs, so Gaban should be > current Sanji (so YC1 level at the very least), the #4 of the crew should be > Jinbe, etc. Gaban alone should be able to wipe the floor with the WBPs, who haven’t even finished puberty. It clearly should have been a stomp, but Oda just completely ignored power scaling for the sake of the narrative
This is proof Oda does care about power scaling, because he refused to show Rayleigh in this exchange.

When toei did these scenes Ray was treating the WBP like toddlers, as we all thought he would. And this was a friendly exchange to begin with, WB wasn't even using his fruit.

2. The Scabbards performance on Onigashima. Earlier it was made clear that all the Scabbards that didn’t travel to the future were much stronger than those who did (since they had 20 extra years to train for the raid). We saw in WCI that Carrot got multiple times stronger when she entered Sulong, so the Dukes (who should already be ~YC3 level and >> Kinemon, Kiku, and Raizo) should get just as large a boost from Sulong and probably be somewhere around YC1 level. Despite this, Oda portrayed all the Scabbards as being basically on the same level on the Rooftop, even though there should be huge gaps in strength between them.
You just made this up, the Sulongs were clearly stronger than the rest of the Scabbards, because even base Neku and Inu were on par with the strongest of the scabbards, only issue is it didn't make a difference to Kaidou at the end of the day.

Lol, anyone who reads just Scabbards vs Kaido would think that they’re all equal. Kinemon honestly did even more agianst Kaido than the Sulong Dukes did…

If I'm fighting some ants, what does it matter to me that a couple of ants are stronger than the others? It was pretty inconsequential power at the end of the day. Same shit happened against Greenbull where Shinobu looked just as competent as Denjiro.

Sulongs were called strong by Kaidou before he even started fighting, so there's your acknowledgement by Oda.

The Base Dukes are already YC3 level. Sulong is a huge power amp, so they should both be YC1 level (maybe even higher) in Sulong if Oda’s being consistent. They certainly didn’t look YC1 level on the Rooftop

The base dukes hardly qualify as yc4s , they fought jack for five days while taking turns and didn't beat him,
If base kaido is a mid top tier he is four subtiers away from yc3 level , base kaido no diffs a yc3 one on one , you would need a marine boat worth of yc3s to beat base kaido. If you aren't yc1 level and above you are almost useless against mid toptiers
