Underwhelming. His character is remarkably underdeveloped despite all the build up leading up to him. That would be fine if he were presented as he was sold to us. Despite being one of the strongest characters in the verse, if not the strongest, he fails to inspire any sort of presence or fear. It was wearing thin throughout the earlier points of Wano, but the flashback was a significant blow to his portrayal. He isn't cunning or charismatic enough to pull off the mastermind gig, (and that was more PIS on Oden's part than any brilliance from Kaido or Orochi), and now he seems like just another strong character amongst strong characters rather than the Alpha and Omega.
The new developments with his son feel like a last minute ploy for developing him, but it's intrusive at this stage of the arc, imo.
