I'm curious what y'all think about this question. I personally think Zoro will have 2 BBs during the start of their fight, and only blacken the third before the final blow that defeats Mihawk.

On the other hand, I can also see Zoro only having one black blade at the start, and ending the battle with two and then presumably blackening the final blade against someone else during the Final War(I personally wouldn't like this one).

Zoro having 3 black blades when he battles Mihawk is possible too.

I'm 100% Zoro will have at least one blade when they fight though, that's the one thing I'm completely certain about.

Depends what swords he carries to the top of swordsmanship.

I can see Enma forged as black through King or after Kaido. Nidai forged black after Shiryu. And Wado forged black after Mihawk.

So to answer your question, 2 Black Blades before Mihawk, since I think the blade is coated Black after the Will is fulfilled or a hardened fight with proper Haki usage.

As far as we know at present, Mihawk himself only has one, correct? I feel like Zoro having more black blades than the reigning WSS going into a duel would be overkill even if we know how the battle’s going to end. Unless the guy with hawk eyes whips out another (at which point I’d say our guy needs all three to be black), one feels like plenty.

I think going in with two, and then blackening Wado during his fight with Mihawk would be the most narratively satisfying and the most likely. Blackening Kuina’s sword during the fight where becomes WSS would be very satisfying for me.

Blackening a Kitetsu after Wado just won’t have the same weight since let’s be honest, Enma and Wado are both more narratively weighted. So I think Kitetsu comes before Wado, and I think Wado needs to be blackened when Zoro becomes WSS. The ultimate fulfillment of Zoro & Kuina’s promise.

3 Black Blades
And since Roger was too weak to even make Ace, his most beloved sword, and the sword he is truly connected to more than Zoro is connected to any of his swords, black, EoS Zoro low or neg diffs Gol D Roger

I think he will turn all of 3 permanent black at the same time.
Now, will it happen before or after Mihawk?
I think prior to his fight. So, 3.
That would be cool, however there's too much set up for Enma to blacken this arc. I don't think the other two will blacken this arc personally.

I think Wado will become a black blade only after he defeats Mihawk, the symbolic sword that holds the soul of Kuina and the only sword that didnt break after his first encounter with Mihawk.
That's exactly what I expect. I picture Wado blackening a secon before Zoro lands the blow that defeats Mihawk and earns the WSS title.

When do you think his second sword will blacken, presuming that Enma is the first and Wado is the third?

If Zoro does fight Gandhi Gorosei, it will probably be after he fights Mihawk(I don't think he will fight Gandhi tho).

second sword will be Nidai, however it seems like Ghandi has Shodai Kitetsu which is the original Kitetsu sword that is 12 supreme sword, would be good if Zoro gets it and make it black making it a higher rank than the 12 supreme grade

So:

Enma blackens when Zoro hits Kaido with Hiryu Kean, Nidai blackens against Shiryu, and Wado blackens against Mihawk? Sounds plausible.
If we’re assuming that the “Shiryu kills Mihawk” theory never happens then yeah I think so. If Zoro fights both, as we are clearly expecting, then I think that’s the most likely times to blacken each. Not to mention that blackening his cursed sword against Shiryu would just feel right considering Shiryu’s character.

bro Mihawk got one and Zoro got three is just their swordmanship style... whats the point of Mihawk having another black blade when his style is one sword only :kaidowhat:

Suppose that would depend on how many proper fights Zoro gets until then. Which in turn is leaning into who you really think Zoro’s final fight is (I still don’t think it’s Mihawk)

Zoro will only get his black blades at suitably dramatic moments. He should get Enma there at the end of Wano. After he gets a first one, it’s not quite as big a deal for the second (and then less for the third), but it will still need to be something cool.

It’s really too hard to say tbh. Not without knowing the shape of what Elbaf will be like, at least.

My general guess would likely be 3, but he might not necessarily forge them before fighting. Imo it would be more epic if he did meanwhile.
