It dosen't make sense for shmrock to request for backup and imu physically teleporting the 2 HK. and based on what they said it seems they were told thru denden mushi so they could have be told by someone else or the 5 elders.

I don't think imu is in charge of teleporting so that means it is either someone else's devil fruit or a mechanism.

It can be a power originally bestowed by Imu and not dependant on his input, like the Gorosei's immortality.

The second time we saw the teleportation in action was Saturn teleporting the other Goro so what is different this chapter with Gunko performing it?

I don’t think this power comes from Imu. I think “the abyss” could genuinely be a new magic system.

If he gave them/ bestowed the teleportation powers (like how he gave the gorosei regen) then it's entirely possible they could activate or use it on will without him manually controlling it.

Looks like "the abyss" is just a synonym/name for the pentagram/summoning circle, imo.

Seem like becoming a Holy Knight requires Imu to bestow upon you the ability of fast travel and a mythical zoan, in exchange for always being connected to him and always knowing your location. Becoming a Gorosei bestows you the power of immortality and regen, but he has control of your very soul.

Holy Knights and Gorosei can use these powers whenever they want. Imu can take them away whenever he or she wants.

So I wonder can the God Knights just teleport anywhere no matter the distance or they need to be physically close to the place they want to teleport.
We see with Saturn that he needs to be near Egghead to be able to teleport. But once he's there he can summon all the other Gorosei that's stationed at Marijoa
So it could be that there's a God Knight's ship stationed near Elbalf
