Versus Battle Itachi vs Kisame

Bogard

You can't win

There was interesting thread about this in thé prévois forum, so decided to recreate this match-up

Location: Konoha
Restrictions: None

Who wins? Kisame has much more chakra, coule compète with Base Gai and overpower him in cqc, could also change the Battlefield to his advantage with his waterdome and absorb ninjutsu with samehada or his ultimate jutsu, all of which would cause Itachi some problems if he tries to overpower him in a ninjutsu battle.

Furthermore if Kisame fuses with samehada, he becomes a sensor, allowing him to fight and detect targets without eye contact. However Itachi has faster jutsu skill, is smarter, is great in weapons handling, and we saw that samehada hates fire, so Amaterasu could likely be too much heat for Samehada to handle. And without samehada, Kisame would have no way to handle Itachi's hax MS techniques, which would ultimately allow him to win imo.

By portrayal as well, Kisame was places below Itachi when it came to dealing with Jiraya in part1 when he said he doesn't think he can handle him, but Itachi might bé able to. Itachi also said he'd take too much time and will be injured if he fought part1 Kakashi, but that if he were the one to do it, it would take no time at all, all of that ultimately placing Itachi as stronger, so i think Itachi would win with maybe mid or high diff max, likely mid, but what do you think

Itachi activated Susanoo fast enough to block a lightning fast attack. The moment Kisame pulls out Samehada, Totsuka blitzes already.

Itachi, who is extremely fast and is excellent as feints, would have no problem closing the distance to mid range in order to cast Tsukuyomi and one shot him. He could even set on fire Samehada with Amaterasu. We know Samehada doesn't respond well to regular fire. And Amaterasu goes as far as to burn regular fire.

Mid diff sounds fine if we consider that pulling out the MS in itself means that Itachi couldn't low diff Kisame ( = not using MS at all).

Let's assume Kisame starts with Samehade infused. He might be able to absorb Amaterasu. Can he avoid Tsukuyomi? I don't remember how good he is as a sensor. Being a sensor doesn't automatically mean that you can fight great. Kabuto had strong sensor skills with his Dragon Sage Mode and yet he didn't go completely blind, but only used snake retina to have his targets blurred out, but still seeing them.

Really depends on if Kisame manages to pull out the waterdome fast enough (which I believe he wouldn't). But what if he starts with the waterdome? Well, then not much Itachi can do. Can Itachi suck the water up with Totsuka? Dunno. Can Totsuka extend all the way into the middle of the waterdome to pierce Kisame? Dunno. So Itachi would just need to stay away from the waterdome. Which would result in a stalemate.

Meh, Kisame consistently received inferior portrayal to Itachi through out the series. From their encounter with Kakashi/Jiraiya, to Kisame's repeated subservience, to Zetsu's statement about Itachi being invincible, to Yamato's words about Kisame being strong enough to be partnered with Itachi even to Itachi being partnered with Nagato and the statements by the dojustu duo and Kabuto about them. Itachi has consistently being portrayed has being on a different level.
I prefer using feats for Naruto, and Kisame has some of the best in the series. His hype is also pretty top level though, on par with Madara’s.

Itachi low-mid diff.

Samehada hates heat, absorbing a Katon was painful... absorbing Amaterasu will just kill her lol.

Itachi will probably place a strong Tsukiyomi on Kisame (Even if he will be suspicious of Itachi's genjutsu, he will probably get screwed against his strongest gen. Kisame seemed to have been trapped by Kurenai's genjutsu. So Itachi.....) and the gen will surely create an opening to place a kunai between his eyes, which will kill him right away.

No need for Susano and Kisamehada will not have the opportunity to show up.

Itachi was clearly the superior of the duo (and the most intelligent).

Probably mid diff cuz Itachi is sick and doesn't have a lot of chakra (while Kisame is the one with the most chakra in Akatsuki).

Yet it absorbed a jinchuriki's lava style?? Kisame has shown he has the ability to make Samehada do things it doesn't want to do whereas Bee was a novice.

That being said Itachi still wins but Kisame always has a chance.

Meh, I'm not convinced Kisame can deal with Itachi's genjutsu.
What is dealing with Itachi's genjutsu? Would he be striking a bunch of crow clones throughout the fight due to it? Ofc, but he's countering his finger genjutsu and he can avoid Tsukuyomi for a prolonged period with sensing and his fighting style blocking view constantly. It is not an offensive hax like a lot of people think, not to mention Kisame's chakra reserves and control is one of the best in the series so him being caught off guard by anything major is not likely.
