Current Events Kaido/Bigmom are the equivalent of Oars/Moria and Wano is Post-Timeskip Thriller Bark.

WCI was PTS Ennies Lobby, featuring a rescue mission to bring back a crewmate and an epic 1V1 between Luffy and a villain (Lucci/Katakuri)

Wano is just Thriller Bark all over again, we have Bigmom who just like Moria is one fat looking villain who can bestow life upon what is dead (souls/shadows) and Oars who might be the same race as Kaido and was an overwhelming brute force throughout Thriller Bark that needed teamwork to be dealt with.

And people used to call Thriller Bark a filler arc so this just further proves how irrelevant Kaido and BM are in the big scheme of things and makes me more excited for when the actual endgame villains : Teach and Sakazuki steps in.

I disagree about Kaido and BM being irrelevant as villains in the grand scheme of things. Just no.

Having said that, I agree that people like Blackbeard and Akainu have more relevance/ importance.
And they will be tougher opponents for Luffy to overcome.

Kaido isn't Oars , he's Oars (tanky and physical beats etc...) + WB (WS)
BM is Moriah (fat ,manipulating souls/shadows) + WB (family person , Mama while wb was Pops)

imagine believing kaido and BM are irrelevant yet Sakazuki has-been irrelevant the whole Post TS

In terms of relevancy when final war comes.
While kaido and BM are the top of piracy and OP right now , they are not ruled by anyone.

Too simplistic of a comparison.
TB was a battle between the entire crew and pretty much one man whose powers over more than a decade created an army to beat, including Oars. Beating the dude who caused it would have finished off all of them due to the shadows. Of course narratively Moria needed to be the last dude to fall, but does not change the fact that he could have been the first and everything would have been over.

Kaidou and Big Mom are equally relevant and strong, and beating one is not doing anything to the other. Plus this is a big war, certainly bigger than the Payback War in terms of people involved, not a small time battle between a handful of people.

There are certain parallels, but people are trying to push things into corners, so that everything can be the same, it does not work.
