Questions & Mysteries Mother Flame and Uranus - how it makes sense

#1
We all saw how Ivankov, Dragon and Sabo were in theory mode this chapter and tried to make sense of that enormous shadow over Lulusia and the nuking that followed.

We also saw Imu calling the Gorosei telling them to "try out Vegapunk's invention - mother flame".

A lot of fans immediately jumped to the conclusion that the spaceship (or whatever it is) was called "mother flame" and Vegapunk built it.

However, this was a red herring imho and even Dragon realized it ("Vegapunk wouldn't build such a weapon! Is it an ancient weapon? But why didn't they use it up until now?").

Imho Dragon was damn close, but not completely right.

Vegapunk does indeed play a major role here.

The weapon that destroyed Lulusia was indeed Uranus - an ancient weapon.

However, the reason why they haven't used it up until now was bc they simply couldn't.

It only runs on that ancient fuel/energy source that Vegapunk mentioned earlier on Egghead.

The brilliant genius that he is, Vegapunk managed to at least partly re-create that power source on his search for the "perfect energy supply for everyone" (he himself stated that as his main goal) and called it "mother flame". An hommage to Greek mythology etc.

That's what Imu is actually talking about - they are finally able to test Uranus bc of that ancient power source Vegapunk re-created.

And how did Vegapunk was able to recreate it?
Vegapunk claims he hasn’t achieved the Eternal flame so we take his word for it

but then again, Vegapunk is a perfectionist.

Vegapunk creating something that’s 95% of the Eternal flame would itself piss him off enough that he would say he failed to make it… Even though this 95% is already the most advanced energy source in the world, and already strong enough to power Uranus

Imu specifically says Vegapunk made the mother flame… Imu doesn’t say Vegapunk made the death laser… so it’s very likely this mother flame is a prototype eternal flame which Vegapunk considers a failure for simply not being 100% the eternal flame

That then I can agreed with.

Imu probably wanting to test the weapon sooner or later, so the power fuel doesn't have to be at 100% for the weapon to work.

1. Yes, Vegapunk's invention is the fuel or the Mother Flame. Even the Cover Story shows us that Vegapunk tried to be pacifist.

2. Yes, they didn't use it up until now because they can't power it up. It is a very reasonable explanation. Sometimes the simple answer is the right answer.

And how did Vegapunk was able to recreate it?
Because the Mother Flame is related to Lunarians: they were the ones living on the Red Line before the WG was formed and they surely built the Giant Robot that's currently at Egghead and that also runs on that Lunarian Flame.

VP has achieved something close to the Ancient Lunarian source of energy because of his investigation with the Seraphims, but since he's a perfectionist, even a 99% recreation wouldn't be enough for him. This also works on a symbolic level because Oda is obviously playing up the "Einstein led to the Atomic Bomb with his academic research" with Vegapunk developing this. Ancient Weapons are clearly paralleled with Nuclear Weapons and their use in WW2 against Japan by the Allies, "being able to destroy an entire island (country)". WW2's aftermath resulted in the creation of the U.N. (World Government) with five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (Five Elders). It's not a coincidence that sunflowers are very important to Japan because of their association with recovering from the two bombs due to the plant's ability to taking up certain radioactive isotopes, like uranium and plutonium. Oh, wait, what was one of the Ancient Weapons called? Pluton? And what is Luffy's assigned flower that he's even wore? The sunflower?

Makes you think.
