I think Niguru the old man that ace, sabo and luffy met wasnt a real pirate, he didnt fought roger but he was there to help luffy get stronger to inspire luffy and to make luffy’s will power stronger, to make him a man that believes in friendship that anything could be achieve if you have friends. Thats Niguru’s purpose, i think he was the God in onepiece that turn into a human form just like from dc comics or marvel comics haha
And you know what’s weird? Neguri always say “Noshi” in japanese Noshi (熨斗) are a kind of ceremonial origami fold entirely distinct from "origami-tsuki". They serve as gifts that express "good wishes". Noshi consists of white paper folded with a strip of dried abalone or meat, considered a token of good fortune.
