The founders of shimotsuki village were not merely samurai from wano, they were pirates. And they left wano 50 years ago.

Given the timing, I think there’s a big possibility that the pirates who founded Shimotsuki village had ties to the Rocks pirates.

This is why we got no conclusive answer to Zoro’s backstory in wano. Oda intends to reveal all of it in Hachinosu/Elbaf, when the SHs save Ochoku from Teach’s prison(along with Koby and Pudding).

Given how Luffy’s dad is dragon and Sanji’s dad is Judge, a King of Germa and member of MADs, Zoro’s dad has to be someone important. Who would be a better fit than Ochoku?

My theory is that Ochoku was Kouzaburo’s captain, the leader of the shimotsuki pirates who left wano. At some point, they went their separate ways. Kouzaburo left piracy behind whereas Ochoku ruled Hachinosu. He had a kid with a woman whose surname was Roronoa. Zoro inherited that name instead of Ochoku’s, as they didn’t want him to be hunted due to who his father was.

Why are you people imagining this Fantasy Sub-Plot

There is something called "Inherited Will" , it's literally highlighted in every single Arc with no exception

Do you really wanna know why Zoro looks like Ryuma and Ushimaru? It's not cuz he is related to Shimotsuki Family at all, the answer was literally given during the Raid

Hyo and Kawa clearly said that looking at him fight reminds them of Ryuma and Ushimaru, so it's their Fighting Styles that he Inherited

Ryuma was One-Sword Style User, Ushimaru was Two-Sword Style User, and most probably Original Founder of Wano was Three-Sword Style User

Zoro is the Kid who was born with Inherited Will of all those Three, hence why he uses All Three Styles and why his Spirit is Trio and why he can Triple his Power, creating Asura

This is just like Big Mom who clearly Inherited Strength of Oars and guess how many Oars there are? There are also Three (Oars from TB, Oars II from Punk Hazard who was clearly used to create Numbers, and Oars III who is Little Oars from WBP)

We also have Vegapunk who was born Smart and he has a Transforming Robot, just like Sora and the Robot he found and most probably a Third One not shown yet

And we have Teach who was born different and never slept, what does his Flag show? Three Skulls hence Theories about him being Three People ... etc

Just like Shirahoshi was born Special, or Sanji who was born with Three others who lost their Feelings, while Sanji clearly have three times Kindness as much as anyone

I can keep going on and on, but it's clear that this is about "Inherited Will" , resulting in Special Births of certain Key Characters

Vega literally showed us that Intellect can be transferred, Judge showed us that Genes can be transferred, DFs showed us that Abilities can be transferred, Hakuba showed us that Skills can be transferred and much more

It's obvious that whatever happened in Void Century was passed on to various Key Characters, and through different methods, Poneglyph wasn't the only thing they wanted to keep for the future

For example, just like Vega Records, it's obvious that Ancient Kingdom had one before, and it's obviously gonna be much bigger and that's how Vega came to be, he was born with Inherited Intellect from those Records

And we were already shown such Record, it's The Moon! We've already seen how Tsukimi from Vega Island way before he was born had same Technology as Moon People, and that's why he loved to look at The Moon, and those Space Pirates were most probably trying to guard those Records or steal them depending on who sent then

Anyway, you should get the idea by now, SHs and certain Key Characters inherited the Source of Power of certain Nations and Civilizations, which is what will help create One Piece whatever it is

Fate is important in Story, not everything has to be Family Inheritance
