Jokes aside, it's now absolutely UNDENIABLE that the WG produces the best and peak fighters. If you've noticed the Pirate world is reigned by dude's with OP genes but barely anyone is actually a skilled warrior bar maybe guys like Katakuri and Doflamingo.

SH's and Law are pretty skilled fighters too
Kidd can also be included

Oda gave them awakening and they still not that powerful while he never gave Kaido and BM and they were still monstrous and among the strongest in the series… there are levels to this.

I'm pretty sure by now Awakening comes with near-death experiences. Ironically, that means Kaido, Big Mom and Whitebeard probably never did so because they were so strong. XD

He was a mess after zoro defeated him.
Luffy awakened after he almost die.
Both kaku and lucci were the most hurt and lucci even more so.
I believe in zoans at least, it must play some role
