Sure, but I'm just talking about pre TS. He understood that Ace shouldn't be punished for his dad being evil, but once Sengoku became convinced that Ace was being groomed by WB to become the new PK, his hands are kind of tied, he can't really save him in that situation.

I don't think that's too crazy, tbh. I mean, I honestly think Luffy freeing impel down prisoners in that saga might have been more immoral.
