The writing has been off aside from what you pointed out and it started long before Wano.
People can and will criticize his writing and I do agre that criticizing just for the sake of your headcanon not bring fulfilled is dumb, have argued a lot here bacause of that.
But again some choices in the story are really questionable.

Those are gorgeous, Gear 5 color have been growing on me.

I agree on the part that there should have been casualties of other than fodders. The scabbards all being alive when they were ready to die for their cause is quiet distressing but the arc ain't over yet so we can have 3 possible deaths since they are gravely injured. You can even count the death of Luffy because he surely was dead until awakening kicked in. But the majority of shit takes is on because their headcannon wasn't true so that is just coping stage 2.

What'd you think of Forests? IMO it was a little flat to be the ending of the series. I enjoyed the fact that the scenes in this episode felt longer but I didn't really enjoy most of them too much.
