Those lazy bums known as the Wano citizens don't deserve to be saved, they can't even fight for themselves.
Oda establishing themes for the story at the beginning of Wano:
Revolutionary army to oppressed citizens: Is being the hero someone else's job? It could be yours.
Oda: Proceeds to make an arc where the citizens don't do anything and spend all of their time drinking during the final battle.

- Break for the next 5 years

Or he gonna die standing like Whitebeard and form the statue that way?

That almost happened to Nami, Zoro and was it Vivi at Little Garden?
