Powers & Abilities Sanji Having His Own Variant of the Rankyaku

Now this is something that has been brought up in the past mostly by Sanji fans and also others but I think it is worth revisiting.

So the Rankyaku (translated as “Tempest Kick” in the official, also translated as “Storm Leg”) would really suit Sanji well, question is will Sanji develop his own variant of this or does he already have it in his back pocket?

When we first saw the rankyaku being used in the manga, Blueno and Kalifa gave some brief explanations in regards to how the Rankyaku and other rokushiki techniques generally work:

Blueno explains that his leg strength is what allows him to utilize the Soru and Geppo techniques respectively. In succession, they also showcase the Rankyaku, and Kalifa explains what that is all about. So these 3 techniques are pretty much linked by leg strength essentially. And hey if that’s all it takes, Sanji should be busting this out left, right and center.
Because the man already has his own version of Geppo, Rankyaku is not out of his reach.

But alas that’s not the case. Idk bout yall but I think Sanji getting his own version of the Rankyaku would be cool and it would diversify his arsenal.

And Sanji would be just as “lethal” as base Zoro if he got this, so that’s a plus

I don't think Oda will ever give sanji cutting powers, this will make Sanji style less unique and be too much like a swordsman and Zoro. It isn't not a good idea to give Sanji Rankyaku even if it can make sense.

Even then I still think it would be a cool addition. But yeah if there’s any real writing reason why he shouldn’t have it, it’s that its very reminiscent of swordsmen and their flying slashes.

The six powers can be used only by the ones that undergo a very specific training, it's not just a matter of strength, unless you find a why to overcome this limit.
As Luffy learnt to use Soru using his DF and Sanji was able to unlock Geppou and probably Soru running day after day for months, reinforcing his legs in an absurd way compared to Kalifa and the others, i believe than Sanji is currently able to use Rankyaku thanks to the RS.
The propulsions are the key to skip the Rankyaku training :cheers:

Not a cutting power but him having a long range move should be a no brainier.

Like a small version of Hiken.

His master Iva could do an air shot with a wink and Zeff showed to put off flames with just kicking the air.

So Sanji should be able to do it with his legs and with DK make a Hiken light

would be good improvement, he's been shown lacking behind so much in strength that he needs all the powerups he can get... specially if the end target for him is an admiral
And I dont know who to hate, Sanji or Oda for Cooking the cake (.....Oda for sure), I just hope Sanji doesnt do that again and instead improves his strength

he already used a similar thing in the anime during yasuies execution it would be cool if it was translated into the manga as well

i think Rankyaku should always have been a part of sanji’s moves set it’s a technique that depends on legs and sanji is the strongest leg based fighter and he already has soru and geppo so it should be a no question

i disagree most characters in the series use blunt attacks and it’s never been a problem so one cutting technique isn’t a problem

Interestingly, Sanji has shown off a ranged attack in a movie. But that's yet to translate to any other medium

I've always hoped he would use it eventually but it's looking less and less likely. This "cutting attacks are Zoro's thing" excuse never made sense to me, Brook and Franky (with his blade called "Franken") can use cutting attacks too. What makes Zoro's style unique is Santoryu associated with Meito, not cutting attacks. It's like saying Sanji's style isn't unique because Luffy, Robin and Chopper kick their opponents too.

I've no idea why Oda didn't give it to Sanji but I think he either wants to reveal this ability in a big fight or he finds this idea too predictable to use it.

Man.... f*ck Oda, he should already gave Sanji his own version of the Tempest Kick and Diable Jambe's fire should already be black. "Black Leg" Sanji... well, where is the black leg? Interesting to see if he can use Diable Jambe + Raid suit.

Sanji already has Geppo n Soru.. so i think he should have that too.. its will be cool move from him with his own name attack

nah not that move ik that isnt a projectile but the scene im talking about is anime only I think but its when zoro and sanji save toko zoro in the anime sends a slash to cut open the gate and sanji uses some kinda fire projectile

I know that you are on a hiatus so take care but Sanji is already lethal just like Zoro.

Sanji kicked Luffy in the face and he was bleeding and Luffy was supposed to immune to blunt attack.

OT: Well, I would love for Sanji to have his own Tempest Kick but there's something else that's way cooler.

That's right, it's a mothertrucker freaking Flaming Spinning Tempest Kick

The other technique that would fit Sanji would be "Corna" from Fire Force.
